¾ of Chamrousse commune is located in a protected natural environment, and is listed in the Natura 2000 area and ZNIEFF.
A biotope protection decree preserves the fauna and flora on the Arselle peat-bog, in order to prevent the disappearing of protected species on 44 hectares.
Lac Achard, arriving from a very nice outing on snowshoes, is also a listed site. Preservation areas for the Lyrurus tetrix, known as the black grouse, are identified in the resort, you can find some information on explanation boards.
The resort signed the ANMSM chart, committing itself to pay a particular attention to sustainable development so that our mountain remains beautiful and clean.
